IT Developer – Cardiff

Based within our client's Cardiff City Centre Office we currently have an opportunity for a Junior Developer to join the IT Department.

Reporting to the Development Team Leader, you will join our existing team who develop software used by both employees and clients. You will be primarily developing in in-house case management systems but will also utilise Microsoft development technologies. The role involves providing support for existing internally developed .net applications and Solcase and Visual Files applications. You will also be tasked with liaising with the IT Support team and with users to discuss their requirements.This includes taking initial enquiries, leading them through a project and working with other members of the Server and Support teams where needed.

Specific duties include:

·Developing Case Management applications in Solcase, Visual Files and Microsoft technologies

·Project managing your time and meeting deadlines for application production

·Planning, designing and conducting tests of programs; correcting and re-testing errors

·Documenting all work in accordance with agreed standards

·Providing 3rd Tier support to IT Support Team

The successful candidate will have a Computer Programming Degree and be able to write applications in c# or VB.net. In addition they will have excellent listening and communication skills, be organised, a team player and have an eye for detail. They will also be an excellent user of MS Office, mainly Excel, Outlook and Word.

A desire to learn new skills and formalise training is required as is some flexibility with regards to hours of work (although core hours will be 8.30a.m.– 5p.m.or 9.00a.m. – 5.00p.m. Monday to Friday)

Previous employment as a Developer would be advantageous but is not a pre requisite for this role. An understanding of the legal environment would also be of advantage. Beneficial but not essential are any Microsoft Certified Professional qualifications.
